The MOAA Alamo Chapter Educational Foundation is committed to building the next generation of America's military leaders. Through the generosity of our members and community partners, we fund programs and opportunities that shape cadets into the officers and citizens our nation depends on. Our work centers on two core objectives:
Support high school JROTC programs that develop character, integrity, and leadership in tomorrow’s military candidates.
Strengthen college ROTC programs that commission the next generation of officers across all branches of service.
Every dollar we raise goes directly to work — funding these vital missions:
Scholarships for deserving cadets
Awards and recognition for exceptional cadets
The Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon
Leadership development training and experiences
Our Impact — By the Numbers
Scholarships awarded to cadets across JROTC and ROTC programs
Hosted our Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon, uniting cadets, families, and community leaders to celebrate service and achievement
Funded Leadership Development training for local JROTC and ROTC units
Supported cadet programs through the MOAA-AC Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser

Investing in Tomorrow’s Military Leaders
The MOAA Alamo Chapter proudly awards $1,000 scholarships across four distinct categories, honoring the legacy of those who have served while investing in those who will. Each year, we recognize outstanding cadets who demonstrate the character, commitment, and potential to lead:
1. College ROTC cadets, including the LtCol Edward & Mrs. Ruby Marvin AF ROTC scholarship.
2. High school JROTC cadets (General Garza "Let’s Go" Scholarships, General Robert Herring, Colonel Edmond McCarthy and Mrs. Susie Tolman scholarships).
3. The COL Clarence Torrey scholarship for Bexar County student with a military relative.
4. The MAJ James and Mrs. Cheryl Cunningham scholarship for a dependent of an active MOAA-AC member.
College ROTC scholarship winners are selected by their detachment/battalion commanders, and the COL Clarence Torrey scholarship nominees are forwarded to the chapter from the Minnie Piper Foundation of the Bexar County Scholarship Clearing House; details are available from high school guidance counselors. This and the remaining scholarships recipients are chosen by the MOAA-AC Scholarship Committee.
